Project update: Ethical concerns over the analysis and storage of excised human tissue

Hi Everyone,

Quick update from my side on the project titled 'Ethical concerns over the analysis and storage of excised human tissue' – following the feedback I received from our local ethics committee, I have designed the questionnaire and resubmitted the application, so just waiting to hear back. In the interim I have also submitted the abstract to an international biobanking conference, under the ELSI platform. This has been accepted for a poster presentation. I am really hoping I hear back from the ethics committee soon, so I can implement the questionnaire and have some results to include for the conference.

Dear Khadija, Thanks so much for this update! It's great to hear how things are going. Out of curiosity - can you share with us what sort of feedback the local ethics committee gave you? Did they ask you to change things in your questionnaire? What was the reasoning they provided? (Only if you feel happy to share, of course). It might be interesting for other bursary fellows (or those thinking of applying for a bursary) to hear what sorts of questions or comments one can expect from an ethics committee. Otherwise, good luck with everything, and congratulations on your poster presentation!
