Ethics & Engagement across the Wellcome Trust Major Overseas Programmes

Hello everyone, Good morning!
Thank you everyone for your support. For CARE project, the interview and the focus group discussion from the hospital site are very interesting. After getting permission from the district level,I am now really looking forwards to the community to meet and interview the village headmen. From the interviews so far, everyone has said that village headmen are the first ever men that researchers should meet before conducting any research in the community. If he said no, villagers will say no as well and if he said yes, villager would considered. Therefore, I cannot wait to explore to the village headmen view on this.

What do you think?!
Best wishes,

Hi Sreymom, it's interesting to hear the progress of your study at district level.  Here in Malawi, we follow a same procedure if a researcher is to  conduct a study in a community; a  village headman is approached and then after he gives consent the study proceed. I hope your study will be welcome in a community which you have targeted.

Wishing you good luck and remember to share updates.

Hello Mom,

It is great to hear that you've got approval and are on to the next stage of the project. I'm really interested to hear more about your conversation with the headmen and how the discussion with them goes. I am sure that they will be enthusiastic about your research. It would be fascinating to know what kinds of questions they asked you and what they found most interesting about the project. Good luck with the meeting. We'll be thinking of you!

Best wishes
